Newport Vineyards Winery is a must-see and taste experience if ever in Rhode Island. What once stood as an original steel building belonging to a car dealership, has now been transformed into a full-service winery including a retail store, bakery, restaurant, production facilities, offices, and event function space. This was a team effort between an owner-hired architect specializing in wineries and the local architect of record to whom I provided consultation services.
The project was accomplished in 2 -3 phases of work. It was highly specialized and the phasing of the construction required a delicate balance of business operations and construction efforts. The project was worked on for a 2-3 year period. The owners are fulfilling their dreams as customers are enjoying all the features and venues of this facility.
2D CAD work was split between two offices, and 3D modeling, and coordination with engineers were 4DRDS' responsibility for this project. During Phase II, the structural engineer was in need of drafting assistance as one of his employees had left, so 4DRDS filled in to complete the drawings for permitting.
